4 Models from 16 inch to 36 inch diameter throats

Invisco offers 4 models of hybrid (gravity plus wind plus motor powered) Tornado ventilators – TP400, TP500, TP600 and TP900. The model numbers match those used by Edmonds in Australia. The numbers indicate the throat diameter in millimeters so the TP900 has a 36 inch throat, the 400 is 16 inches, 500 is 20 inches, 600 is 24 inches.

Higher performance free gravity air flow

Invisco is now making the best gravity rooftop turbine ventilator in history – the Tornado. And we are making it in America.  Edmonds in Australia proved this concept with their Hurricane. They ship them all over the world.

Above is a closeup of the vanes. Air flowing through the Tornado can flow right out through the vanes. And the air flow causes the head to rotate and that action actually accelerates the air flow when the blades start to pull air up. And any breeze will accelerate air flow even more. Here is data from tests showing the effect that even a light breeze has on accelerating air flow:

To put the data above into perspective, note that the 900 would take over 1/4 horsepower to move 3700 CFM with no breeze!

Traditional rooftops like those from Greenheck, PennBarry and TwinCityFan  have flat tops that force the air to go down before it can go up. They do not take advantage of breezes. 

Higher performance because a blade is added

Edmonds (Now Bradford) uses a motor to rotate the turbine top. That restricts the performance to low static pressures – at or below 0.1 – so the design done for the University of Washington by Affiliated Engineers was derated from the 5885 CFM way down to 2500 CFM. This new Invisco Tornado has much higher  performance due to the addition of a powerful motor and blade. And it has a longer (higher) turbine blade for better gravity performance than the CSR Edmonds EP series. The high performance 15.5 inch blade from Multi-Wing America puts out 3000 CFM at 0.0 SP, 2700 at 0.1 and 2250 at 0.2 and the motor is an infinitely variable speed EC motor with 0-10VDC speed control compatible with all modern building control system software.

Above is the heart of th24 inch diameter model – a 1/2 HP US Motors Electronically Commutated Brushless DC Motor  (ECM) with infinitely variable speeds and input power that varies nearly perfectly with speed. As an example, it draws 505 watts at full speed and at 10% of full speed it is about 50 watts. motor is an infinitely variable speed EC motor with 0-10VDC speed control compatible with all modern building control system software

In the 24 inch Tornado the high performance 23 inch blade from Multi-Wing America puts out 8,320 CFM at 0.0 SP, 7900 at 0.1 and 6500 at 0.2 and the .

The 36 inch Tornado is a higher performance replacement for the Edmonds EP900. It uses a high performance 35.5  inch blade from Multi-Wing America that puts out 14,000  CFM at 0.0 SP, 13,000 at 0.1 and 12,000 at 0.2 SP.
